Starbucks Founder & CEO Howard Schultz has taken a very bold and practical stand regarding Political Contributions.
Money feeds most things in America and what could be more interesting than less money feeding this horrid, over lengthy and charade of a process for a field of candidates attempting to win over America. One or more advance and one is selected at their Parties National Convention. Prime time TV, silly speeches and oh the fashion show of who is wearing what!
So after months of Coffee in Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire, South Carolina and more mixed in with Straw Polls, fashion shows, debates on TV and such this is what we get: a Candidate. The Candidate promises this and promises that, looks to the left, looks to the right, smiles often and hopefully without too many umm's, ah's and you know laced in their speeches and talks they are off to the Races. Many if not most are somewhere between bad to horrid in their actual speech delivery. They spend millions on advisors, consultants and staff and no one tells the candidate to stop the umm's, the ah's and the you know's? Nice impression some of them make based on their wretched speech delivery.
Travel across our great land riding in a tricked out Bus, bannered planes and occasionally a train. More coffee, shaking hands, kissing babies and a lot of smiles. Do we need all this crap to elect a President? What a novel way to stimulate selective areas of our economy each 4 years. Heaven forbid we consider and change to a system similar to England. No nearly 2 years of the Sad Sack shows there. It is fast, to the point and seems to work well.
So, if the money is reduced or ideally cut off what do they do?
Less of those annoying emails & phone calls? Less of those tacky, cheap shot and insulting ads? Less employment for the Clowns who continue to advise candidates that this is the way to campaign and win in America?
My new technique is simple: when the phone rings, the emails come in and they want support I simply suggest they do as our Government does: borrow money from the Chinese. The economic wrecking of America has hurt me so go borrow money from the Chinese. My days of supporting any of these people at any level of election or pre election are over. Feel real good about this new position. Thank you Howard Schultz for enlightening and inspiring me!

Wow! You've certainly more than captured the essence of modern American politics (follies)... It's really a joke but for some reason I'm not laughing!
ReplyDeleteIt is live and very much unrehearsed and very serious business to what America is all about.
